Megalopolis - June 17, 2019 (2019) Photo Installation Newsprint, wood. 121.92x72.39cm

In making A.K.A. Serial Killer, Masao Adachi and Masao Matsuda pioneered their “theory of landscape” or fukeiron. It was their way of looking at Japanese rural landscapes, violently unifying as one continuous conurbation, under the power of centralized authority. Through my time in various cities around the world, I have come to sense the violence of standardization of the sort described by Adachi and Matsuda. Starting with this, I drifted around these cities, collecting scenes from places I visit, to merge them into a single, ever-expanding, megalopolis.
